Standard 3: Diverse Learners

Standard 3: Diverse Learners

Description: “The teacher understands how students differ in their approaches to learning and creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners.”

Reflection: As a student I would classify myself outside of the norm student group. Some areas of school I excelled at, others were very poor. I never planned on continuing my education to the college level. I went to BOCES senior year to help me figure out my career choices. Ultimately it lead me to college. With my background of being a diverse learner, who often didnt fit in the norm I fully understand the importance of knowning the type of learners in my class.  If you dont know the learning characteristics of your students then how can one properly prepare lessons for the group that will result in authentic learning.

Evidence: Below are two example of planning for and creating a unit around diverse learners.
