Standard 6: Communication and Technology
Description: “The teacher uses knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.”
Reflection: In this age of technology it is very important to use it to its full benefit for our students. Communication is easier and cheaper than anytime in history. So teachers need to take the first step in making sure there are communication lines open between students, parents, administrators, coaches, and fellow teachers. Email is an invaluable tool to use for this communication.
The internet has revolutionized the availability of ideas and information. Students have the most up to date and extensive resource in the world. However there are skills that even these tech savy students need to be taught. Particularly they need to learn what is the most efficient way to search for information. Also they must learn to deciphir the quaility and validity of the information. Students can not just take text as truth as they have learned from years of structured learning in grade school
